Senior Counsel

Whitney McGuire is a skilled and tested civil litigator, who focuses her practice on environmental issues and complex commercial matters. Prior to joining the firm Whitney served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for 9 years at Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (RYAM), a leading manufacturer of high-purity cellulose and biomaterial products. In that role she oversaw all U.S.-based litigation and led major health, safety, and environmental permitting, compliance, and litigation matters.

Prior to joining RYAM, Whitney spent 12 years as a commercial litigator, then Shareholder at the firm of Smith Hulsey & Busey. There she gained extensive experience in commercial litigation and complex civil disputes.

Whitney also has extensive experience in engineering and manufacturing. She spent 9 years at the outset of her career as a process engineer and manufacturing manager in fine chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing with Hoffmann-La Roche and Henkel Surface Technologies.

Whitney holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis. Enhancing her knowledge and experience in environmental law she is completing an LL.M. in Environmental Law and Policy at Florida State University College of Law.
